The Aidanite Society is a grass roots alumni-run group for graduates of St Aidan's College, Durham University. We seeks to bring together and foster the Aidanite alumni community for the benefit of our fellow alumni, the College and the Junior Common Room.
Our project started when members of the Junior Common Room (JCR) at St Aidan's College passed a motion mandating the JCR to explore re-establishing an alumni organisation, noting that any preexisiting alumni associations were moribund. The JCR's Board of Trustees subsequently voted to facilitate that project by hosting an open meeting of alumni of St Aidan's College in May 2024. The purpose of that meeting was to guage alumni interest in the project* (Circulated documents from the meeting can be viewed here). Interest was satisfied and an interim-Steering Committee of interested alumni was appointed. The JCR then handed over the project to that committee. The Steering Committee acts independently of and without further affiliation to St Aidan's Junior Common Room CIO or Durham University.
"As alumni, we have all benefited from and enjoyed our time at St Aidan's College, where we shared a sense of belonging within a diverse and dynamic community of students.
We want to maintain our connection to that community and to each other by organising events for alumni and by encouraging others to give back to the current student community, enabling other students to access and share in it into the future."
